Whole Foods Market Teams Up With The Sneaky Chef
Back-to-school means back to homework, team practices, lessons, and carpools galore. There just isn’t much time for cooking. More and more, moms and dads rely on the quality they trust from the Whole Foods Market prepared foods case when they want to serve nutritious meals to their families. Starting in September 2008, it will be a whole lot easier to pick up super nutritious, family-friendly meals at Whole Foods Markets in three greater New York locations, as they introduce the Sneaky Chef recipes in their prepared food case.
The Sneaky Chef, AKA Missy Chase Lapine, is the author of two Sneaky Chef cookbooks, including the New York Times bestseller THE SNEAKY CHEF: Simple Strategies for Hiding Healthy Foods in Kids’ Favorite Meals. The recipes sneak healthy, superfood ingredients into original recipes, and they are completely undetectable. Whole Foods Market is “very excited to be featuring The Sneaky Chef’s recipes in our chef’s case. Families are a huge customer base for us- parents feel great about giving their kids all-natural foods…Missy’s recipes are a perfect fit for us- healthy and delicious!”
Whole Foods Market shoppers may already be familiar with The Sneaky Chef. She has done demos, cooking classes and book signings at several northeast locations and she is a regular customer at the White Plains store. “I trust Whole Foods Market completely. They offer the broadest range of natural and organic foods. Whole Foods is my source for nearly all the ingredients for The Sneaky Chef Test Kitchen, “ says Missy Chase Lapine.
White Plains, NY, Edgewater and Ridgewood, NJ will be launching The Sneaky Chef recipes in the prepared foods section in September and the recipes will change seasonally. For the introductory Fall season Whole Foods Market will be offering Sneaky Baked Ziti (with hidden sweet potatoes, tofu, and carrots), Magic Meatballs and sauce (with hidden spinach, broccoli, and peas and a sauce featuring hidden cauliflower and zucchini), No Harm Chicken Parm (with hidden wheat germ, cauliflower, and zucchini), and Masterful Mac 'n Cheese (with hidden sweet potatoes and carrots).
The Sneaky Chef debuted last year with national television appearances and a meteoric rise onto bestseller lists, including The New York Times. Kids’ favorites – hamburgers, mac ‘n cheese, lasagna, ice cream – are enhanced with superfoods like wheat germ, spinach, cauliflower and white beans, to make them more nutritious, while lowering calories and fat. Every recipe has withstood dozens of taste tests and never has a taster detected the healthy additions.
This year the Sneaky Chef targeted men, notorious for disdaining vegetables. Her new book THE SNEAKY CHEF: How to Cheat on Your Man (in the kitchen) offers hearty recipes like mashed potatoes with hidden white beans, chicken parmesan with added spinach, and Bolognese boosted by sweet potatoes.
Across the country moms and dads have enjoyed cooking healthy Sneaky Chef meals for their families. Now three Whole Foods Market locations will make those same recipes accessible to the busiest families with ready-made meals in their prepared food case.
